  3. Thanks Calmplex!

Yeah, there is a lot more to the coloring process than is evidenced by this overview of my process. I'm working on a video now for the Art & Story Supreme subscribers that goes into the coloring process using this illustration. Since you subscribe, you'll be able to see it in the next week or so.

I print the non-photo blue onto bristol with my printer at home. I use an Epson Stylus Photo R1900. Its a printer that can handle art paper.

My lines aren't darkened in Photoshop upon scanning. I start with a bitmap, so there is only black and white. However, I manipulate the black lines later by changing their colors. For example, look at the black line on the bushes and notice how they are changed to a darker red-orange at the end.

Hope this helped answer some questions. Stay cool!

  4. i have so much to learn! lol i don't even know what a bitmap is... what i have been doing with my inks is selecting the white color. Then reversing the selection. and then I take the paintbrush over all the lines in black... makes the lines all nice and dark and uniform but it doesnt look that great... so far it's worked fine in the final prints but i know im doing it totally wrong and it's a pain!

I'll be looking forward to that vid dude! Thanks :)

  5. Hey Calmplex,

If you want to hit me up for one of my office hours I can share my screen with you to go through the scanning process, bitmaps, and all that.
